Chesapeake police investigating two shootings Friday, one fatal

CHESAPEAKE, Virginia – Police in Chesapeake responded to two shootings within minutes of each other Friday. The second shooting left one man dead.

According to police, the first 911 call about a shooting on Great Bridge Boulevard south of US 17 came in around 7:50 p.m.

There, police said they found a man lying on the ground in the dairy section of a grocery store who had been shot.

Investigators said they learned the man had left his home on Seapines Run to escape the suspect who had shot him.

He is expected to survive, but police say the suspected shooter was able to leave the scene in a vehicle.

At around 8 p.m., police were called to the Deep Creek neighborhood on Sea Palling Lane because of a shooting.

Officers said they found a man shot dead at the crime scene.
