The forecast for the race in Singapore

The forecast for the race in Singapore

(Motorsport-Total.com) – There are crucial questions on every race weekend of the 2024 Formula 1. Namely: What was the weather forecast? Can we expect wet roads on site? Do we need intermediates or even rain tires? Or will it just stay consistently dry from training through qualifying to the race and dry tires will be sufficient? In short: What do the drivers around Nico Hülkenberg, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton have to prepare for?

Singapore will host the 18th race of the 2024 Formula 1 season

In order to answer these questions, our editors keep a close eye on the weather at the Formula 1 venues a few days before the start of the tests or race weekends. And as the event progresses, this preview article is updated with new information on the weather, such as temperature in degrees Celsius, wind strength, cloud cover and expected rainfall for each day of the weekend.

The result is the most precise weather forecast possible for the respective Grands Prix of the 2024 Formula 1 season. However, all information is without guarantee, after all, some motorsport locations such as Spa-Francorchamps or the Nürburgring are known for having particularly changeable weather that cannot always be predicted accurately. Rainfall can also occur there without warning.

The next time Formula 1 will take to the track in Singapore is from 20 to 22 September for the Singapore Grand Prix, the 18th race of the year. (Check out the complete 2024 Formula 1 calendar here!)

The current weather forecast for the race weekend in Singapore:

Am Saturday (21 September) New rain is coming to Singapore, but before Formula 1 takes to the track. The Marina Bay Circuit may also be wet or damp when the drivers start the third free practice session. At least there are no more showers expected later in the day.

Temperatures of up to 29 degrees Celsius are expected for Saturday during Formula 1 racing times. At 80 percent, humidity will be a bit higher than on Friday.

The wind turns slightly and hits the race track from the southeast, but is weaker than the day before: on average it is only 17 km/h, which weakens to nine km/h in the evening. Peak speeds of just over 20 km/h are possible. The wind direction means a headwind in particular before curve 13 between the two bridge crossings.

Also on Sunday (22 September) There is a chance of rain in Singapore, but – as on Saturday – the showers are likely to arrive before the Formula 1 action. This could in turn mean a wet or damp track for the Grand Prix starting at 8 p.m. local time (2 p.m. CEST).

Temperatures will again be around 30 degrees on Sunday, with humidity rising to 76 percent during the race

The wind will also come from the southeast on Sunday, but will not be particularly strong: on average it will be twelve km/h, with individual gusts reaching 20 km/h.

A notice: This forecast will be updated several times throughout the week!

The forecast for the next race in Austin

We do not yet have a weather forecast for the 2024 US Grand Prix in Austin (October 18-20). The weather is usually good in the region in mid/late October: during the day the average temperature is above 20 degrees Celsius. On average there are only five to seven rainy days per month in Austin. The probability of a dry track is also high. However, a real weather forecast can only be made in the week of the race.
