The Oktoberfest weather is becoming increasingly clear. An expert explains how the two weeks will probably go.

Munich – One thing is certain: on opening day on Saturday (21 September), the parade of the Wiesn innkeepers through the city to the Theresienwiese can be admired in the best autumn weather.

Alban Burster, meteorologist at wetter.comWhen asked, he looked at the weather forecast for the Oktoberfest period in Munich. For the first weekend, he said: “It’s looking good for the weekend with sunshine and over 20 degrees.”

Oktoberfest in Munich: This is the weather forecast for the two weeks

But what happens during the two weeks of the festival? There have been all sorts of things at the Wiesn, even snow. In 2002, for example, Mother Nature brought an early winter to Munich, which also covered the Wiesn in white. The contrasts have also been strong in the past two years: two years ago it rained regularly and mulled wine was served at some stands due to the cold temperatures, but last year the weather couldn’t have been better.

After the sunny weekend at the start of this year, however, according to Burster, it will be a little more unsettled. “Then there will be rain, wind and then it will be a little cooler.” But we will stay above 15 degrees.” And then? “After that, it looks like it will continue at 15-20 degrees.” It probably won’t stay completely dry.” The only downside: “So there won’t be a warm Oktoberfest like last year this year.”
