Rewe, Edeka and Co.: This product is driving everyone crazy – here you can get it

An absolute hype product is currently on everyone’s lips! But it has to be said: This only applies in a figurative sense. Because there is a lot of talk about it and influencer videos go viral on social media – for example that of Maria Vehera. But for this delicacy to actually end up in your mouth, you have to rely on it quite a bit. In any case, it is not easy to find it at Rewe, Edeka and Co.

We’re talking about – some of you may have already guessed – Dubai chocolate. It was invented a few years ago in Dubai by a pregnant businesswoman who was craving something special. And Dubai chocolate is actually a little out of the ordinary. The most important ingredients that give it its special texture and aromatic taste are baked kadayif (“angel hair”) and pistachio cream. But where can you find this delicacy at Rewe, Edeka and the like?

Rewe, Edeka & Co.: Hype about Dubai chocolate

Unfortunately, there is no general answer to this question. The real Dubai chocolate is made by hand by the company “Fix Dessert Chocolatier” and is so expensive (up to 15 euros per bar) that hardly any traditional supermarket or discounter includes it in their range.

The “Lebensmittel Zeitung” found three independent Rewe merchants who procured Dubai chocolate on their own: Thomas Wurm, who runs a Rewe market in Königsbrunn near Augsburg, stocked up at the Ritonka company in Austria. The Rewe markets in Bolz (Eschweiler) and Lenzen (Brühl) – both in North Rhine-Westphalia – found what they were looking for at other manufacturers.

If you really want to eat Dubai chocolate, you have to go looking for it – or take a look at Edeka’s Instagram page, for example. They have made a virtue out of necessity. As Edeka explains, some (not all) Edeka stores at least have the necessary ingredients in their range. But you can also get them in Turkish shops, for example, as Kadayif is also used in the dessert Baklava. Edeka then provides a recipe with which everyone can make their own Dubai chocolate.
