This is what Jill Biden thinks about her husband’s withdrawal from the race

First Lady Jill Biden speaks openly about her feelings for her husband, President Joe Biden, and how he is preparing for his final days in public life.

She told NBC News they were “completely at peace” with his decision to drop out of the presidential race, but there were reports the couple did not feel he received the support he deserved after being pushed off the stage in favor of Vice President Kamala Harris.

Following his appearance at the presidential debate on June 27, Biden faced massive calls to drop out of the race.

For nearly a month, he fended off concerns from the media and Democratic leadership, echoing what many who watched the debate had already concluded: that he was not prepared to serve another four years in the White House.

Biden’s wife vehemently defended her husband’s performance at the debate. At a rally the next day in Raleigh, North Carolina, she addressed his performance, noting that he was no longer a young man.

“I said, ‘Listen, Joe, we’re not going to let 90 minutes define the four years you were president,'” she said. “My husband knows how to tell the truth. When he gets knocked down, Joe gets back up, and that’s exactly what we’re doing today.”

Karoline Leavitt, press secretary for former President Donald Trump’s campaign, accused her of “elder abuse” because of her role in convincing the president to stay in the race for so long.

The President’s poor performance during the debate was capped by the scene in which the First Lady helped him off the stage at the end of the evening.

After escorting him away, the couple attended a party hosted by his campaign team, where she praised her husband for doing the bare minimum.

“You answered every question, you knew all the facts,” she said. “And what did Trump do?”

“Lie!” shouted the crowd.

But now the Bidens have shifted their support to Harris, who is neck and neck with Trump in the polls as the election campaign comes down to seven swing states.

The president is retiring in four months.

“I’m just used to seeing Joe working in government, and I think that’s always been a role that he’s had and played, and I think he’s going to miss it, but I think he’s done a great job,” Jill Biden said.
