Huawei Mate XT Tri-Foldable comes to Europe: First global hands-on videos and launch window

Huawei Mate XT Tri-Foldable comes to Europe: First global hands-on videos and launch window

Yesterday, Huawei presented a whole host of new wearables and two new tablets for Europe, but behind the scenes the Mate XT was also in the hand luggage. And that is unlikely to remain exclusive to China in the medium term. As several sources reported at the launch event (such as Android Authority and TechTablets, see videos below), Huawei is planning a global Mate XT launch in the first quarter of 2025, probably also at the Mobile World Congress 2025, which begins on March 3 next year.

It remains to be seen how much the double-folding 10-inch tablet will officially cost in Germany and Austria. In China, the basic configuration with 16 GB RAM and 256 GB storage started at the equivalent of 2,530 euros, and you will probably have to reckon with at least 3,500 euros if you want to buy the Mate XT in Europe. But the price is not the only obstacle; the comparatively weak Kirin 9010 and the lack of Google services will also put many people off if there are ways to get around the latter.

Mate XT may be waterproof to IPx8

The first hands-on videos of the exciting tri-foldable reached us shortly after the launch from early Chinese testers, and now the first global videos from international launch participants can also be found on YouTube. BensGadgetReviews started a few days ago, followed today by Android Authority and TechTablets (see below). A few unnamed people also emphasized to Android Authority that the first double-foldable tablet is a waterproof design according to IPx8 – exciting, because this is not mentioned in the official data sheet on the Chinese product page.
