The seventh edition of the Laver Cup takes place in Berlin.

The Laver Cup will continue to have a permanent place on the ATP Tour in the future. The organizers of the show tournament for tennis professionals initiated by Roger Federer and the ATP announced on Friday in Berlin that their existing certification agreement would be extended by five years. The partnership was concluded in 2019, two years after the first edition of the Laver Cup. The seventh edition of the tournament between a European team and a world selection started in Berlin on Friday.

The partnership will benefit the Laver Cup from the ATP’s global reach, marketing services and operational support, among other things. “I am incredibly proud of what we have built with the Laver Cup,” said Federer. “Being recognized as part of the ATP Tour five years ago was an important milestone. It is fantastic to see how players, partners and fans around the world embrace the Laver Cup. I am excited about its future.”

Germany’s top player Alexander Zverev started the three-day tournament on Friday evening in a doubles match with Spanish superstar Carlos Alcaraz against American Ben Shelton and Taylor Fritz.
