Another right-wing demonstration during Christopher Street Day in Saxony

Chub – Tomorrow Saturday there will be a festival in Döbeln (Central Saxony) this year’s Christopher Street Day (CSD) will take place. At the same time, a real demonstration was also announced.

Under the motto “Colorful flags against brown politics,” around 500 people want to celebrate the third CSD in Döbeln.

But the organizers have expressed concerns because a right-wing extremist counter-demonstration is planned to take place in parallel in the immediate vicinity of the opening rally and follow the route of the CSD.

“The right-wing extremist demonstration will be present until the final rally and, as a grand finale, will march past it once again and back to the train station,” explained the CSD organizing group.

They also point out that in addition to the “local fascists, radicalized groups from all over Saxony, including the so-called ‘Elbland Revolt’” have mobilized for the demonstration.

When asked by TAG24, police spokesman Andrzej Rydzik said: “In view of the reported gatherings in Döbeln, the Chemnitz Police Department is planning a police operation to guarantee the fundamental right to freedom of assembly.”

The Chemnitz Police Department is in contact with the assembly authority of the Central Saxony district regarding the two assemblies. However, specific information on the force deployment and the tactical approach will not be communicated in advance.

Rydzik also points to the Pride in Freiberg on September 7th. Similar to the one in Döbeln, there was also a corresponding counter-event on that Saturday. Overall, the day went smoothly.

The initial situation was similar: “So we will of course incorporate our experiences from the Freiberg police operation into the upcoming operation,” Rydzik continued.

The aim is to guarantee all fundamental rights to freedom of assembly and to prevent confrontations between the camps.
