The time has come: Apple introduced the new iPhone 16 on September 9th. At an event entitled “It’s Glowtime” in Cupertino, California, Apple CEO Tim Cook presented the smartphone as well as other new models such as the Apple Watch Series 10 and the new generation of AirPods. The new iPhones have been available to buy since Friday, September 20th, as have the new Apple Watch and the AirPods 4.

As with the previous model, the iPhone 16 is available in four different versions: In addition to the regular model, a Plus device and two iPhone 16 Pro are available. Here, fans can look forward to larger screens: The iPhone 16 Pro has a screen diagonal of 6.3 inches (previously 6.1), and the iPhone 16 Pro Max even has a screen diagonal of 6.9 inches (previously 6.7).

There are also new A18 processors, new camera functions, a new recording button and more. All four models now have an action button, which is located on the left side below the volume control. In the 15th generation, only the Pro models had this feature. You can use it, for example, to mute the smartphone or assign a shortcut that calls up the camera or the flashlight with one click.

But it doesn’t stop there, another new button is responsible for controlling the camera and is located on the right side under the power button. This allows you to trigger the camera and control it with gestures. iPhone fans will also have to get used to it at the beginning.

Apple Intelligence is initially only available in the US

Of course, Apple is also following suit with the new Google and Samsung models and is placing great emphasis on artificial intelligence. The four iPhones 16 are equipped with the iOS 18 operating system, which offers Apple Intelligence. The AI ​​has numerous functions such as a better Siri, writing tools or Genmojis. However, Apple Intelligence will not initially be available in the EU; initially only US citizens will be allowed to use the tool.

If you don’t like the changes or the new iPhones were simply too expensive at the entry-level price, we recommend the previous models. These drop significantly in price around the time of the launch of new devices, so you can get top models at a low cost.

New Apple Watches buy

In addition to smartphones, there are also new smartwatches for iOS fans: The Apple Watch is turning 10 and is being renamed Apple Watch Series 10. The display is about 9 percent larger, but at the same time thinner and lighter. This means that the 10 has the largest Apple Watch display ever. Charging is also faster; according to Apple, just 15 minutes of charging is enough for 8 hours of normal use.

Also new: The Apple Watch Ultra 2 in black. There are no differences here other than the black version, just new straps. The health functions of the Apple Watch have been further improved – the watch is now able to detect repeated cessation of breathing during sleep, known as sleep apnea. Contrary to expectations, the Apple Watch SE 3 was not introduced.

AirPods the fourth generation now available

The new Airpods are finally here – even in two versions.

An entry-level model replaces the older second-generation AirPods and offers a new design and a USB-C housing. The second set dates the third-generation AirPods and uses active noise cancellation for the first time. This was previously reserved for the AirPods Pro. The popular over-ear headphones AirPods Max have also received an update; they can now be conveniently charged using a USB-C cable.

An H2 chip blocks out ambient noise better during phone calls, and the battery charge is enough for a full 30 hours of listening pleasure. There is an exciting update for the AirPods Pro: in the future, they will be able to carry out hearing tests and even be used as a hearing aid in the future – according to Apple, at the level of medical hearing aids.

iPad Mini, Macbooks and Co. – Bad news for Apple fans

The rumors that new iPads and MacBooks might be presented at the Apple event did not come true. According to experts from Maclife and Macworld The development of the new hardware is not yet complete and the models will only be presented in a few months.

There were a total of three Apple events in 2023, and “It’s Glowtime” was also the third event of its kind in 2024. Macbook and iPad fans will probably have to wait until next year to get their hands on the latest model of their favorite product.
