Social commitment – ​​Berlin Volunteer Days start with 200 hands-on activities – Economy

Berlin (dpa/bb) – With the start of the Berlin Volunteer Days, interested parties can get a taste of various volunteer activities in the coming days. Between September 20 and 30, more than 200 participatory activities will be offered throughout the city. Around 40 partner organizations are involved, as the organizers, the Paritätische Wohlfahrtsverband and the “Tagesspiegel”, announced.

Activities include cleaning stumbling blocks in Schöneberg, gardening in a community garden in Spandau or taking part in a get-together at a homeless shelter in Treptow-Köpenick. To kick things off, bird nesting boxes will be built this afternoon in the Fabrik Osloer Straße center for social and cultural work. Also taking part will be Kai Wegner (CDU), Governing Mayor of Berlin and patron of the volunteer days.

The aim of the participation activities is to promote voluntary work and to strengthen the community in the neighborhoods.
