For Laver Cup: Zverev forms doubles with four-time Grand Slam winner

German tennis fans can look forward to local hero Alexander Zverev on the first day of the Laver Cup. The world number two will fight alongside Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz on Friday for a point for Team Europe. The doubles is scheduled as the second match after 7 p.m.

The format, co-initiated by tennis legend Roger Federer, is based on the Ryder Cup in golf. A European selection will fight for the title in twelve matches over three days against a world team. Jan-Lennard Struff from Warstein will also be there as a substitute. Tennis greats Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner had cancelled their participation in the lucrative team competition.
