Augsburg vs Mainz

FC Augsburg achieved its first win of the season on matchday 3. They won 3-1 away against newly promoted St. Pauli, with substitute Phillip Tietz scoring the winning goal to make it 2-0. Mainz suffered a bitter 1-2 defeat against Bremen. With only ten men on the pitch, Werder captain Friedl had to leave the field due to a red card in the 60th minute, but Bremen managed to score the winning goal through new signing Köhn. Mainz therefore still have only two points on the board.

Augsburg’s form is currently pointing upwards. Mainz urgently needs their first three points to avoid a false start to the 2024/25 season.

Bochum vs. Kiel

VfL Bochum certainly imagined the start of the 2024/2025 Bundesliga season differently. After three match days, coach Zeidler’s team had not yet scored a point and had only managed to score one goal. On match day 4, Bochum will face the newly promoted team from Kiel. The Storks are also still without points; in the 1:6 defeat against FC Bayern, the newly promoted team was too passive, especially in the first half.

Will one team win this six-point game or will the points be split?

Heidenheim against Freiburg

FC Heidenheim lost 2-4 to BVB last weekend. However, Frank Schmidt’s team showed tremendous fighting spirit and did not give up even after quickly falling behind 0-2. On Saturday, September 21, 2024, FCH will host SC Freiburg at home. The Breisgau team had a tougher fight than expected in their 2-1 win against Bochum, with striker Junior Adamu redeeming his team with a brace.

Both teams have already arrived in the current season and have a well-functioning offense.

Union against Hoffenheim

In the 0:0 draw against Leipzig on matchday 3, Union Berlin showed that the Köpenickers are once again relying on tried and tested virtues such as tackling and defensive stability. In the three games so far, goalkeeper Rönnow has only had to reach behind him once. After the victory on matchday 1, TSG suffered two defeats in a row. In the 1:4 defeat against champions Leverkusen, the goal by Mergim Berisha, who was in the starting eleven for the first time after his comeback, was the only bright spot for Hoffenheim.

The stadium at the Alte Försterei is to once again become an impregnable fortress for Union.

Bremen against Bavaria

Werder lost their captain in the match against Mainz, but won three points. After two draws at the start of the season, Ole Werner’s team celebrated their first victory. On matchday 4, however, Bayern come to Bremen. The Munich team have been incredibly confident in the Bundesliga so far, with Harry Kane scoring three goals in the 6-1 win against Kiel. The record champions are therefore the only team in the league to have the full results on their account.

FCB will rotate a bit after the Champions League opener against Dinamo Zagreb. However, the large squad means there should be no loss of quality in Bayern’s starting eleven.

Frankfurt vs Gladbach

Omar Marmoush was the man of the match in Frankfurt’s victory in Wolfsburg. The Egyptian international scored two goals against his former club. On matchday 4, SGE will face Borussia Mönchengladbach at home. The Fohlen come into this game having lost against Stuttgart. Gladbach was able to keep the party open for a long time, but in the second half, VfB’s new striker Demirovic struck mercilessly twice within four minutes.

Frankfurt is relying on a quick transition game this season. Gladbach is currently conceding too many goals.

Leverkusen vs Wolfsburg

The champions from Leverkusen are getting better and better. In the 4:1 win against Hoffenheim, coach Xabi Alonso’s team impressed with strong combinations and a merciless Victor Boniface. The striker from Nigeria is slowly getting back to his top form. The Wolves from the car city saw a lot of ups and downs in the historic three games of the season. New signing Salih Özcan from BVB is expected to provide more stability, especially in midfield.

Wolfsburg faces a herculean task away from home against the Werkself. However, Leverkusen still had to compete in the Champions League on Thursday.

Stuttgart vs Dortmund

On Sunday, September 22, 2024, the two Champions League participants from Stuttgart and Dortmund will face off. VfB had to play against Real Madrid on the first matchday of the premier class. BVB will face Club Brugge in the opening match. In the Bundesliga, both teams were successful on the third matchday. VfB defeated Gladbach 3-1, while the Black and Yellows celebrated a 4-2 home win against Heidenheim.

Both teams want to play an important role in the 2024/2025 championship, which is why only a win counts here.

St. Pauli against Leipzig

The Kiezkickers will host Leipzig on Sunday at 7.30 p.m. FC St. Pauli started the season with three defeats. St. Pauli’s offense is currently struggling. With only one goal scored, they are in last place in this ranking, along with Bochum. Leipzig disappointed last weekend in a 0:0 draw against Union. The missed penalty by attacker Openda is particularly in focus.

Leipzig returns to the Bundesliga after a difficult away game in the Champions League against Atletico Madrid.
