Dazn threatens to withdraw from the Bundesliga

Streaming service Dazn is considering withdrawing from broadcasting the Bundesliga. The sports channel’s Germany boss, Alice Mascia, described “total withdrawal from the Bundesliga” as an option. However, because Germany is one of the most important markets for football broadcasting, this is not necessarily the goal.

The background to the threat is a legal dispute over the bidding competition for the broadcast of the Bundesliga. The representative of the professional club, the German Football League (DFL), did not accept the Dazn bid for the coveted Saturday games despite the best conditions. The British streaming service has taken the matter to arbitration. The decision is expected next Tuesday.

German hiker dies in avalanche accident

A German hiker who had been missing since Saturday has been found dead in the Austrian Alps. The 71-year-old from the district of Coburg was found in the Tyrolean Karwendel region after the search was resumed on Thursday, a police spokesman said. The search for the man buried by an avalanche was called off due to the great danger to rescuers and was not resumed for days.

One in three police officers experienced racism from colleagues

Around one in three police officers has heard racist comments from colleagues while on duty not long ago. This is the result of the final report of a large-scale study commissioned by the federal government on everyday life and attitudes within the police force. Two thirds, however, said they had never heard such comments in the past year.

The scientists asked police officers from federal and state governments about their observations on how their colleagues interact with citizens as well as with other police officers. According to the study, just over 40 percent of the police officers who took part noticed sexist comments in the year before the survey. Ten percent of them said that this had happened in more than ten cases within a year.

This is what the weather will be like in Germany today

The golden autumn continues on Thursday. In most regions, Germany shows its sunny side. In many places the weather will be similar to Wednesday’s temperatures. Peak temperatures are expected to be between 21 and 26 degrees in Cologne and on the Lower Rhine. It will be a little cooler south of the Danube, where maximum temperatures will not rise above 18 degrees.

At the start of the day, fog will dominate the scene in many places, but will clear up by midday. In the afternoon, it will be partly cloudy. In the low mountain ranges, this will discharge itself in the form of isolated showers or, in some areas, even short thunderstorms.

It will remain gusty in southern Germany and the centre, where freshening east to northeast winds can lead to significantly cooler perceived temperatures. Stormy gusts are also expected on the mountain peaks.

Towards the evening, fog and high mist will set in, especially in the south. According to “wetter.com”, showers are expected to continue to subside during the night into Friday. In some places, it will cool down considerably towards the evening. In the Black Forest and on the edge of the Alps, temperatures will fall to 7 degrees. Elsewhere, lows of around 14 degrees are expected.

The new season of the true crime series is dedicated to a double murder that is firmly anchored in the collective memory of the USA. The series focuses on a pair of brothers from a wealthy family who became the focus of media attention in the late 1980s due to the murder of their parents.

In the new edition of the “Monster” series, the directors also ask questions about the motives of the two young men. Although they were convicted of double murder for greed, both of them always claimed that they had acted in self-defense and out of fear. The new season is a must for true crime enthusiasts.
