ELF: Rhein Fire enters into cooperation with the Seattle Seahawks

Rhein Fire is the first team in the European League of Football to enter into a cooperation with an NFL team. The reigning champions, who will be in the championship game again on Sunday, will be working with the Seattle Seahawks in the future.

As part of the cooperation between Rhein Fire and the Seahawks, there will be various activities in Germany. The Seahawks, who enjoy a large fan base in Germany, will be present at all Rhein Fire home games in the European League of Football. Representatives of Rhein Fire will also appear at Seahawks events. Both will organize joint courses and tournaments to promote football.

Part of the Seahawks strategy – New experiences for the German football community

The partnership with the team from Düsseldorf is part of the Seahawks’ strategy to build up their activities in Germany as part of the NFL’s “Global Markets Program”. In November 2022, the 2014 Super Bowl champions were part of the NFL’s first regular-season game on German soil. In Munich, they lost 16-21 to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“The Seahawks and Rhein Fire are both known for their passionate and loyal fans. Directly supporting American football in Germany helps to attract fans to the sport as a whole,” said Isabelle Van Coevorden, Director of International at the Seahawks. “We look forward to working with Rhein Fire to develop an exciting and innovative program for our mutual fans while reaching new target groups.”

It is a great signal that the European League of Football is also recognized and taken seriously in the USA.

ELF Commissioner Patrick Esume

Max Paatz, General Manager of Rhein Fire, sees it similarly: “We are honored and excited about the close collaboration with the Seattle Seahawks, one of the most famous and successful teams in the NFL. This partnership will enable us to share valuable expertise in the areas of fan engagement, marketing and PR. Together, they want to advance the sport and “create new, exciting opportunities and experiences for the German football community.”

A few days before the 2024 Championship Game between Rhein Fire and the Vienna Vikings (Sunday, 3:30 p.m.) in the Veltins Arena in Schalke, the ELF is of course also pleased with the deal. “This is great news, which of course has a positive effect on our entire league,” says ELF Commissioner Patrick Esume enthusiastically. “It is a great signal that the European League of Football is also being recognized and taken seriously in the USA. Perhaps this first partnership between an ELF and an NFL team will serve as a model for other franchises in both leagues.”
