Russia: Two dead and seven injured in shooting in Moscow

Moscow, September 19 (IANS): According to the Russian Investigative Committee, two people were killed and seven injured in a shooting at the office of the Russian online retailer Wildberries.

According to preliminary information, a shooting occurred at the Wildberries office in Romanov Lane in Moscow on Wednesday, the Investigative Committee said.

Seven people were injured, including two police officers who arrived at the scene, Xinhua news agency reported, citing TASS.

According to the investigative committee, two people succumbed to their injuries.

Wildberries, the largest online retailer in Russia, is owned by Tatyana Bakalchuk, a Russian entrepreneur and founder and CEO of the retailer. Her husband Vladislav Bakalchuk is a co-owner.

A group of 20 to 30 men arrived at the scene and began smashing windows at the entrance to the business center where the office was located. Shortly afterwards, shots were fired, TASS reported, citing police officials.

According to law enforcement, nearly 30 people were arrested as a result of the shooting.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated in connection with the shooting and investigators are currently working on site to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
