Experience craftsmanship and discover diversity at the Gallusmarkt in Kremsmünster

KREMSMÜNSTER. On Saturday, October 12th and Sunday, October 13th, Kremsmünster will be a center for art and craft lovers from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Over 150 exhibitors make the Gallusmarkt presented by Tips one of the largest and most diverse art and craft markets in Upper Austria. Every year, the market attracts thousands of visitors who can discover a wide range of products made of wood, glass, ceramics and metal as well as handmade jewelry and unique decorative objects.

The “IG Handwerk Garstnertal” is represented at the Gallusmarkt for the first time. This interest group, which has existed since 2007 and has 39 members, is committed to the task of presenting, demonstrating and reviving old and rare crafts. Craft demonstrations and the production of new tools based on old templates are just as much a part of this as the opportunity to get involved yourself in order to inspire young people in particular to take up crafts.

“The variety and quality of the handicrafts at the Gallusmarkt are unique. With the IG Handwerk Garstnertal we can make handicrafts even more tangible. Its members, who range from apprentices to pensioners, bring with them a wide range of skills and knowledge. “The commitment of this interest group shows how important it is to preserve traditional handicrafts and at the same time keep them alive for future generations,” explains Gerhard Söllradl, chairman of the Gallusmarkt association.

At the Gallusmarkt, for example, visitors can look over the shoulders of the coppersmith, the quill embroiderer, the turner, the blacksmith and the carver as they work.

To ensure that all market visitors can enjoy a pleasant and safe stroll, the entire area between the Schwarzer Adler inn, Trattoria Luna and Raiffeisenbank will be closed to traffic. A special bicycle parking area is available so that visitors can discover the many unique works of art and the picturesque places of Kremsmünster in a relaxed manner.

The exceptional skills of the exhibitors, culinary delicacies as well as the children’s and supporting program make the Gallusmarkt a special experience for the whole family.

Admission: three euros (2.50 with OÖNcard), children and young people up to 16 years free, further information at www.gallusmarkt.at.
