Trump’s claim “eating dogs and cats” becomes a TikTok trend

Donald Trump’s baseless claim that Haitian immigrants in Ohio eat dogs and cats has now become a cute TikTok trend.

During the presidential debate with Vice President Kamala Harris on September 10, Trump amplified false rumors that Haitian immigrants were kidnapping and eating pets.

“They eat the dogs. They eat the cats. They eat the pets of the people who live there,” Trump said during the debate.

Notably, his vice presidential candidate JD Vance defended the rumor in an interview with CNN.

“The American media completely ignored this issue until Donald Trump and I started talking about cat memes. If I have to make up stories to get the American media to actually pay attention to the suffering of the American people, then I will do that,” Vance said.

“It comes from first-hand accounts from my constituents. I say we are creating a story, which means we are creating the American media that focuses on it. I did not cause 20,000 illegal immigrants to come to Springfield thanks to Kamala Harris’ policies. That is what her policies did. But yes, we created the actual focus that allowed the American media to talk about this story and the suffering caused by Kamala Harris’ policies,” he continued.

Meanwhile, Trump and Vance’s rhetoric has become a cute TikTok trend, with people using the audio to show their pets’ reactions to Trump’s words.

In one video, a gray cat is seen looking shocked when he hears Trump say, “They eat the cats.” The cat then extends its paw toward its owner before the video cuts off.

Another clip shows a dog making a visibly shocked face when he hears the false claim.

In the comments section of the post, people reacted to the meme.

“I’m screaming,” one person said.

“He is horrified,” remarked another.

“Give him the treat!!!” someone else suggested.

“His facial expression,” joked one TikTok user.
