Developers think for themselves, iron out old “bugs” with cool rewards

How to get the Sunspear staff as a spear instead

If you master the meta achievement of Return to Path of Fire, you will receive the weapon “Sunspear”. But not the (expensive) staffwhich you have been able to get with luck since November 2017. The Sunspear in GW2 finally becomes a real spear – just complete the “Return to Path of Fire” achievement.

Recently, players had already complained about Data mining pleased that the two staff designs Sunspear and Darkspear were listed as spears. Now we know how to get a first one. It is still unclear when we will unlock the Darkspear. This can be obtained as a staff – like the Sunspear – via treasure chests in Istan.

In fact, these staffs are not the first weapons to subsequently expand the spears’ transmutation repertoire. The update of September 10, 2024 took care of that:

If you have at least one character that is five years old, you can get the “Glowing Partisan” skin in Löwenstein, which is a copy of the Glowing Pillar weapon. And if you have a character that is even 10+ years old, you get access to the “Dragon Decade Spear” spear skin – also the adoption of a staff design from an anniversary weapon set. To do this, simply speak to the birthday merchant in Löwenstein. You will find them in the cave “Path of the Blank” in the far northwest of the city.
