Since July 1, the government has registered 556,000 FIRs under the new penal laws.

The official also mentioned that software patches have been developed and deployed in the Inter-operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS) applications to reflect the new criminal laws.

In addition, the official said that significant updates have been made to the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS), including integration with e-Prisons, e-Forensics, e-Prosecution and use of electronic means such as audio-video communication in line with the new criminal laws.

The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) has developed 23 application patches for CCTNS/ICJS, while the National Informatics Centre (NIC) has prepared 6 patches for e-Forensics, 7 for e-Prosecution and 9 for e-Prisons.

These updates have been communicated to all states and union territories to ensure effective implementation of the new penal laws.

In addition, a mobile and web application, NCRB SANKALAN of Criminal Laws, was launched to help users cope with the new criminal laws. The app has been downloaded about 585,000 times.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has also set up a CCTNS technical support call centre with a helpline number (14415) to assist states and union territories. Another app, Nyay Shruti, has been launched to enable efficient and secure communication between all pillars of the ICJS ecosystem.
