The first puck has dropped and the new ice hockey season has begun. For EHC Kloten, this away win against HC Davos began with a victory after a penalty shootout. The airport city team started the party enthusiastically and kept putting the favored record champions under pressure. They were rewarded with two goals to take the lead. The fact that Kloten couldn’t seal the deal was mainly due to an uninspired power play.

This was particularly evident in the last third, when Kloten was unable to convert three two-minute penalties into something worth counting. Davos did something better, and in the last seconds before the final whistle the score was still 2:2. The five-minute extension did not bring a decision, nor did the first five shots on the two goals in the penalty shootout. The last goal then landed in the Davos goal. EHC Kloten won the opening game 3:2 after a penalty shootout.
