Former tennis player Anet Kontaveit announces happy news after her retirement from professional tennis.

After her not entirely voluntary departure from professional tennis last year, Anett Kontaveit is making positive headlines in her private life. The Estonian, who had to end her career in 2023 at the age of 27 due to persistent injury problems, has become a mother for the first time. The former number two in the tennis world announced this on social media.

Kontaveit ended her career on the WTA Tour in mid-2023. Her best period was in 2022, when she also achieved her last tournament victory in St. Petersburg and was ranked second in the world rankings.

The Estonian has won an impressive 390 singles matches on the WTA Tour. In 2020, she reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open. But her defeat to Marie Bouzkova at Wimbledon last year was the end of her career.
