“The conspiracy will not last long, the loopholes will be closed,” says Home Minister Amit Shah on the recent rail accidents – News from India

Home Minister Amit Shah said on Tuesday that any attempts to sabotage rail operations would be immediately stopped as the government unveils a new initiative to secure India’s 110,000 km railway network. His comments followed a series of rail accidents, with many suspected of deliberate tampering with the tracks.

Marking the first 100 days of the third term of the BJP-led NDA government, Shah stressed the government’s resolve to resolve the issue. He revealed that he had spoken to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw over the safety concerns for the past two days. “As far as the accidents are concerned, we will investigate the root cause of them. Whatever the reason, the government is determined to address the issue. If it is a conspiracy, it will not last long. If there are loopholes, they will be plugged,” Shah said.

Shah pointed out that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the Railway Police and the Ministry of Home Affairs are jointly developing a comprehensive security concept to protect the railway infrastructure from sabotage. “We have taken the recent incidents very seriously and will work out a concept to solve the problem,” he added.

Earlier, the Congress had claimed that there were 38 railway accidents in the first 100 days of the Modi government’s third term and accused Vaishnaw of dismissing them as “minor incidents”.

He also highlighted the expansion of the railway network under the current government and announced the approval of eight new railway projects that are expected to improve travel efficiency. These projects are expected to employ 442 million people per day.
