Maria eliminated early in Seoul

Tennis professional Tatjana Maria was also eliminated in the first round of the WTA tournament in Seoul. The German number one lost to Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova 2:6, 6:1, 0:6 in the hard court tournament in the South Korean capital with prize money of 922,573 dollars. Maria, who was ranked 82nd in the tennis world rankings, had already lost her opening match in Guadalajara last week.

The 37-year-old was the only German to compete in Seoul. She suffered her third defeat in three duels this year against Tomowa (WTA No. 54), who is eight years younger than her. Maria had no chance in both cases on hard court in Hobart, Australia, and on grass in Bad Homburg, and in Seoul she fought in vain for victory.
