Rafael Silva of “9-1-1 Lone Star” reacts to the cancellation of the series

9-1-1: Lone Star is returning for a bittersweet season 5. The upcoming season will reunite viewers with the most beloved characters from the 126. However, this will be the last reunion, as the show is set to end with the upcoming fifth season. While the news was no surprise to the cast, as this possibility had been on the horizon for several months, it is still sad. Rafael Silva has brought Carlos Reyes to life since the show began, and with the end in sight, he has said goodbye on Instagram. Silva posted a farewell message reflecting on what the show has meant to him over the five seasons he’s been on it.

“A chapter has ended and I can only feel gratitude. Lonely Star has been a blessing in my life. In summary, it has taught me that I am everything I need to just be,[sic]”, he began in his Instagram post and talked about his most important takeaway from the show. “To Ryan [Murphy]Tim [Minear]Rashad [Raisani]our brilliant writers, our undeniably dedicated crew, my irreplaceably talented colleagues (friends), thank you for allowing me to be myself,” the actor continued, thanking the creative force behind the show. Murphy was executive producer of the show and expanded the 9-1-1 Universe. Minear served as showrunner and writer for several seasons, while Raisani succeeded Minear when he took over as showrunner of the flagship series.

“To the fans, I love you so much,” Rafael said, thanking the fans who have been a huge force in keeping the show going all these years. “Thank you, God, for putting challenges in my life so I can learn. And thank you, God, for teaching me what true love feels like. And last but not least, thank you, Carlos. Texas Ranger Carlos Reyes awaits you on Monday, September 23, 2024 at 8 p.m. on Fox,” Silva concluded.

The character was Silva’s first regular television role and fans fell in love with him from the moment he first appeared on screen. Carlos made his first appearance in the series premiere when the newly moved TK hooked up with him and the two later met in the field where they learned he was a police officer. Despite TK’s attempts to push Carlos away, he won TK’s heart and the pair enjoyed a wonderful relationship. They married at the end of season four. Carlos had a strained relationship with his father. Because Carlos was a closeted gay man, Carlos and his father didn’t connect until later in life. They began a relationship that ended when Carlos’ father was murdered.

In season 5, Carlos tries to balance his marital duties with his work. He joins the Texas Rangers to find out the truth about his father’s death. Carlos gets a new work partner in the next season, and TK’s younger half-brother comes into his life, affecting both of their lives.

Texas Ranger Carlos Reyes awaits you on Monday, September 23, 2024 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox when 9-1-1: Lone Star returns for its fifth and final season. In the US, you can watch the series on Hulu.
