Full passion for motorsport

BERLIN. Since 1976, the Greinsfurth Motorsport Club (MSC) has been providing glowing engines and exciting races. Tips spoke to chairman Patrick Schrenk about future plans, the importance of youth work and the next big event.

It has long been a familiar part of the landscape: the approximately 800-meter-long motocross track of the MSC Greinsfurth, which lies west of the Waidhofnerstraße between Rudolfsbahn and B121 coming from Amstetten. The MSC Greinsfurth held several club races and a large race here every year.

Club run on 21 September

“On Saturday, September 21st, it’s that time again! Training starts at 8:15 a.m. The race starts at 10 a.m. “We’re looking forward to seeing lots of visitors,” says MSC chairman Patrick Schrenk.

Spectators can look forward to a Classic Motocross National Championship, where motorcycles built from 1960 onwards will be on display.

There will also be children’s classes, the “Ladies’ Grand Prix” and a Just 4 Fun team competition.

“One of our big attractions this year is a sidecar class – that’s an absolute rarity!” emphasises Schrenk, who is expecting around 150 starters. Entry is free for the public. In the evening there will be an after-race party with DJ Irxi.

A look at the club’s history

Since Heuer, the MSC Greinsfurth has been an official independent club. “The MSC Greinsfurth was founded in 1976 from the Greinsfurth sports and leisure club – initially as one of many sections under the name ‘Motorsport Section’. “At some point, of all the sections, only the motorsport section remained,” says Schrenk, looking back.

Starting next year, he will be the chairman of the MSC Greinsfurth for the third time. Before him, Rudolf Hochstöger, Alois Gschoßmann junior and Christian Schrenk led the club’s fortunes.

Around 130 members

“We currently have around 130 members, of which around 40 are active.” “We are also able to welcome more children to our club again,” says Schrenk, who is very concerned about working with young people: “Children can come to us as soon as they can ride a bike without supports.” Our youngest member is three years old.”

Schrenk: “We want to support young people more again”

A few years ago, the MSC Greinsfurth also took part in the town’s holiday games – “we want to revive that in the future,” stresses Schrenk, who also invites kindergarten groups or school classes to visit the MSC Greinsfurth facility – for example as part of a hiking day. Young people who need more practice on their 50 cc moped, for example, are also welcome on the MSC track.

“We want to encourage young people more and encourage them to take part in races,” says Schrenk. Girls and women are also addressed here.

Pump track & Co.

The MSC is currently building a pump track, which is due to be completed next year. “We have also installed electricity, set up a toilet container and we have recently become one of the few motorsport clubs that can automatically water its track so that the dust pollution is not too great.” “In the future, we want to further expand the infrastructure,” says Schrenk.

The Sunday outings, the star ride and the May outing will also continue.

“We are a very active club – and we want to keep it that way,” emphasizes the MSC chairman, who thanks the municipality, companies and sponsors for their support.
