Sunny today, then clouds, some showers from the next tropical storm

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – It’s a beautiful, seasonable start to the week before more clouds fan in from the storm that is expected to develop into Tropical Storm Helene before making landfall in South Carolina.

Use our WVLT First Alert Weather app for iPhone or Android to stay informed on the go and between newscasts. We share custom videos and you can receive our messages on the latest conditions and forecast.

WHAT TO EXPECT

We have a mostly sunny Monday with increasing winds. We have a north wind 10 to 15 mph with gusts around 20 mph in the afternoon and evening.

Tonight will be cloudy and humidity will increase, resulting in only a few light showers by morning. Temperatures will cool to around 62 degrees.

OUTLOOK

We are closely monitoring the path of the eventual Tropical Storm Helene, as a small shift to the west or east will change the amount of rain that reaches East Tennessee, as the mountains here provide a small barrier.

As of now, we’ll see scattered rain Tuesday morning and at times throughout the afternoon. We’ll see clouds everywhere, but not rain everywhere. In our area, about 40% of the rainfall will be light to moderate rain. Tuesday will be cooler with a high of 24 degrees.

On Wednesday it will be mostly to partly cloudy, with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms with maximum temperatures of 27 °C.

In your First Alert 8-day planner, afternoon temperatures will be back in the 30s by the end of the week and will persist through early next week, with limited chances of rain.
