Deren Vorgänger saw the light of day in September 2022. After the previous two-year cycle, it would have been time to announce a successor, but that never happened. Apple has not yet commented on the release of its new entry-level watch. According to the website[–>MobiFlip.de once again the industry insider and Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, who specializes in the company, in his latest “PowerOn” newsletter. In it, he confirmed previous speculations that the Apple Watch SE 3 will not be released until 2025. He did not give a specific date, but a release in spring 2025 alongside the Apple Watch SE 3 expected for this period would be conceivable.[–>iPhone SE 4.

Plastikgehäuse bereitet offenbar Probleme

Als Grund für die Verzögerung des bisherigen Release-Zyklus der Einstiegs-Smartwatch nennt Gurman Kosten- und Qualitätsprobleme bei der Produktion und beruft sich auf Insider-Quellen. So hat der Experte eine Behauptung wiederholt, die er schon im Sommer 2024 zum Besten gab und die als Gerücht seit geraumer Zeit durchs Netz geistert. Demnach besteht das Gehäuse der Apple Watch SE 3 vollständig aus Plastik. Das könnte eine wichtige Sparmaßnahme sein, um den Preis trotz fortschrittlicherer Technik im Inneren einigermaßen niedrig zu halten.

Glaubt man Gurmans Quellen, scheint die Rechnung hinter den Kulissen aber noch nicht aufzugehen. In Bezug auf die Apple Watch Ultra schließt sich der Experte der Meinung des Analysten Ming-Chi Kuo an. Der hat durchblicken lassen, dass Apple seine Spitzen-Smartwatch künftig nur noch im Zwei-Jahres-Takt erneuert.
