Amazon has been offering its Fire TV television in Germany since last year. The devices are currently available at a reduced price. The retailer is offering the various models at up to 60 percent off. For example, the Fire TV 4 series Smart TV devices with 4K resolution are available from just 199.99 euros instead of the regular 699.99 euros. The top models from the Fire TV Omni QLED series are available from just 249.99 euros.

Last year, we took a detailed look at the device series using the QLED top model as an example. The devices, which are available with different screen sizes and quality levels, offer an extremely good price-performance ratio, especially as part of the current special offer.

Omni series with decisive advantages

The most important distinguishing feature between the “Fire TV 4” and “Fire TV Omni” series is the screen technology. In both cases, 4K UHD is supported, but the Fire TV 4 series uses a conventional LED display, while the Omni models work with a QLED screen and also support standards such as Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+ Adaptive and HDR10+ Gaming via HDR10 and HLG. The Omni models also have built-in functions such as voice control with Alexa and use as an “ambient screen” when the TV functions are not in use. The latter turns the screen of the devices into a combination of digital picture frame and information display. This display can either be activated manually or controlled automatically by an integrated presence sensor.

AirPlay “secretly” integrated

Probably because of its focus on the Fire TV ecosystem, Amazon doesn’t make a big deal about this fact, but the devices also have integrated support for Apple AirPlay. This option can be configured and activated in the TV’s settings.
