Golubic also fails early in Hua Hin

Viktorija Golubic (WTA 98) suffered her seventh first-round defeat this season on the WTA Tour at the Thailand Open in Hua Hin. The Zurich native lost to the number 5 seeded Chinese Wang Xiyu (WTA 62) 5-7, 1-6 after leading 3-0 in the first set. The last time Golubic made it through the first round of a tour tournament was in Birmingham in mid-June. The current last Swiss player in the top 100 is in danger of falling down the rankings in the next few weeks. A year ago, in October, Golubic won two Challenger tournaments that had fallen out of the rankings.
