Doctors’ warning strike: Central rally in Frankfurt

On Monday, around 60,000 doctors at municipal clinics across Germany have been called to a warning strike. The doctors’ union Marburger Bund has organized the warning strike because negotiations with employers over better working conditions and more money have stalled. The main rally will take place on Frankfurt’s Römerberg (1 p.m.). According to the union, speeches by affected doctors are planned, among other things.

In the collective bargaining negotiations, the Marburger Bund is demanding a linear increase in productivity of 8.5 percent over a year. There should also be a reform of shift and rotating shift work. The employers consider the demands to be excessive. The doctors only received a four percent increase in their salaries in April 2024, it was said. Many municipal hospitals are in a financially precarious situation.
