With his victory in the opening singles, Tomas Martin Etcheverry laid the foundation for Argentina’s victory against Finland.

In the first singles match of the day, Tomas Martin Etcheverry will face Eero Vasa. The world number 34 from Argentina initially struggled in his role as favorite against the Finn, who is ranked 360th. After narrowly winning the tiebreak in the opening set, the 25-year-old increasingly took control and won after almost two hours with 7:6 (5), 6:3.

Francisco Cerundolo, No. 31 in the ATP rankings, also had a tough time at the beginning against Otto Virtanen, who is ranked 110th. The 26-year-old Cerundolo was unable to counter the Finn’s strong serves and powerful game for a long time and had to give up the first set in the tiebreak. After that, however, the 23-year-old Virtanen had used up all his energy and was only able to score once before the final, 7:6 (4), 1:6, 0:6 after 1:45 hours.

In the final doubles match, Argentina is aiming to qualify early for the final tournament in Malaga with a win. The Argentinian duo Andres Molteni and Maximo Gonzalez turned the party around after losing a set against the Finnish pairing Harri Heliovaara/Patrick Kaukovalta and won 6:7 (3), 6:4, 6:3.

The final match of Group D will decide who will travel to Malaga alongside Argentina. The British need a 3-0 win, while Canada only needs a single match win to reach the final tournament.
