ABC’s Linsey Davis acknowledged that the fact-checking of Trump was influenced by an earlier CNN debate that went badly for President Joe Biden.

ABC anchors Linsey Davis and David Muir have been heavily criticized by critics for being biased against Donald Trump’s Democratic rival Kamala Harris. During the highly anticipated first presidential debate between the Republican and Democratic candidates, the moderators reviewed Trump’s statements five times and did not correct Harris once.

Trump later railed against the ABC anchors for alleged bias. “It was three to one. It was a set-up, as I expected,” the former president told “Fox & Friends” on Wednesday.

Linsey Davis reveals why it was important to check Trump’s facts

In an interview after the debate, Davis acknowledged that the fact-checking on Trump was influenced by an earlier CNN debate that went badly for President Joe Biden, leading to his withdrawal from the 2024 White House race.

Speaking to the Los Angeles Times over breakfast at the Ritz Carlton in Philadelphia, Davis said she was simply addressing concerns that Trump’s comments could “stick” unchecked by Harris or the moderators, just like his June debate against Biden.

“People were concerned that statements were simply left hanging and not [be] neither by then-candidate Biden nor by the moderators,” she said.

In one of the debate moments that went viral, Davis categorically told Trump that “there is no state in this country where it is legal to kill a baby after birth.” She corrected the former president after he mentioned former Virginia Governor Ralph Northam’s 2019 comments in which he suggested that a newborn could be killed shortly after birth following a “discussion” between the mother and the doctor.

Davis locks her social media accounts

Davis said her team had planned to verify the statements of both candidates during the debate, but none had been done for Harris.

The website reported that Davis closed her social media accounts and simply ignored allegations that she supported Harris.

“There is a stereotype that I am very aware of and I cannot report on this moment impartially. And the anonymous Instagram people remind me of that every day,” she explained.
