Lukas, who completed his high school diploma in Thum, always knew that he wanted to work in industry. With his dual degree in development engineering, he found his dream job in the region.

TAG24: Hello Lukas, why a dual study program and not a classic one?

Luke: When I was at school, it really annoyed me that I was given so much theoretical knowledge without having any connection to it at all.

In the dual study program you also get a lot of theoretical knowledge, but every three months in the company you realize: Hey, that’s really cool, you need that, you have to remember that!

TAG24: Don’t you sometimes look wistfully at other students who have a
Do purely theoretical studies but have a student life?

Luke: Student life is not necessarily neglected in the dual study program. You have to accept that you still have to be awake at 8 a.m. the next day.

TAG24: How did you choose among the many companies that support dual studies?
Have you found your practice partner, Phoenix Contact in Niederdorf?

Luke: I found out about Phoenix Contact through my father. Then I came here to do a trial work experience. The amount of knowledge I gained in those 10 days really caught my attention, I was there!

Also the range of products that we create here. As an engineer, you usually have to specialize in one thing. And here you really get a project or look for one and then you are completely supported in every way. That’s just really cool!

TAG24: Very briefly and succinctly, if you have any advice for someone regarding their career choice.

Luke: I could tell you a lot now, but my tip is: Look at the companies and make
the dual!
