Next setback for Wawrinka

Stan Wawrinka has suffered another setback. The Romand cannot take part in the Challenger tournament in St. Tropez due to injury, as the French daily Var Matin reported. Wawrinka, who slipped to 235th place in the ATP rankings after his first-round defeat at the US Open, injured himself in training last week. The length of the forced break is still unclear. The 39-year-old has never won two matches in a row in the last 12 months.

Osaka with a new restart

Former world number 1 Naomi Osaka is parting ways with her coach Wim Fissette after two years. The Japanese announced this on Instagram on Friday. Osaka and Fissette have worked together twice: from 2019 to summer 2022 and since summer 2023, when Osaka returned to the tour after the birth of her daughter. Osaka won the 2020 US Open and the 2021 Australian Open with the Belgian. Since her final comeback in January 2024, Osaka has not yet regained her old strength. With her victory in the first round of the US Open against Jelena Ostapenko, she beat a top 10 player for the first time in the last four years.
