Cavs’ NBA 2K25 ratings that are 100% wrong

Cavs’ NBA 2K25 ratings that are 100% wrong

The latest edition of the popular NBA2K video game series, 2K25is finally available, meaning basketball fans around the world can lace up their sneakers and hit the court to play as their favorite NBA stars. However, fans of the Cleveland Cavaliers might be disappointed with the ratings of some of their favorite players, especially superstar guard Donovan Mitchell. Did the game’s developers underestimate Mitchell? And what about other Cavs stars like Evan Mobley and Darius Garland? Let’s dive in and take a closer look.

Donovan Mitchell’s rating (92) is ridiculous

All season long, Donovan Mitchell has repeatedly proven that he is the best shooting guard and one of the best players in the NBA. Some would even argue that Mitchell is a top ten player. However, it seems that the developers for NBA2K25 think differently.

Mitchell is ranked 14th overall, sandwiched between Jaylen Brown and Jalen Brunson. Just ahead of Brunson are Anthony Edwards, Devin Booker and Anthony Davis. Although Edwards, Booker and Davis have made further playoff progress and Davis has won a championship, they still can’t hold a candle to Mitchell.

Mitchell plays the same position as Edwards and Booker and outperformed them statistically. Mitchell also has no losses to either player, going 10-8 overall against Edwards (2-2) and Booker (8-6). The Cavs superstar also has more playoff and All-Star appearances than the other two players.

So, something is wrong with the NBA2K25 Offices. Again, Davis has a legitimate argument over Mitchell due to his championship ring. The same goes for Davis being better than Mitchell in terms of individual accolades. Regardless, keeping Mitchell out of NBA 2k25’s top ten is ridiculous and should be changed once the regular season begins.

NBA 2k25 underestimates the abilities of Evan Mobley, Darius Garland and the Cavs

When you look at the rankings of Cleveland’s virtual roster, something seems off. Of course, it makes sense that Mitchell would be at the top – he’s the Cavs’ best player and, as you saw above, one of the best players in the NBA. But when you look further down, things get a little confusing.

Right after Mitchell comes Evan Mobley, and here too the ranking makes sense. Mobley is the Miles Morales to Mitchell’s Peter Parker. But Mobley’s overall ranking of 86 is identical to that of NBA2K24 and just above his 84th overall ranking in NBA2K23Mobley’s second season.

It’s ridiculous to claim that Mobley has only marginally improved since his rookie season. The game acknowledges that Mobley is one of the best interior defenders in the league. However, it completely ignores Mobley’s progress as a playmaker and three-point shooter.

Perhaps NBA2K25The developers of will increase Mobley’s offensive stats once they see him in head coach Kenny Atkinson’s offense. But these are only minor criticisms compared to Garland, who has a total of an astonishing 82 points in NBA2K25just ahead of Cleveland’s substitutes.

Although the game respects Garland’s playmaking and understanding of three-point shots, it is a descent into disgrace. If NBA2K24 Garland was ranked 86th overall and was considered one of the best point guards in the game. Granted, Garland was injured and inconsistent at times last year, but to say he’s on the same level as Caris LeVert, Cleveland’s sixth man, is a joke.

In addition, based on NBA2K25Garland is on the same level in the rankings as Jalen Suggs, Alex Caruso, and Coby White. All three players are solid, but they are role players, which Garland is not. Like Mobley, Garland will show more in Atkinson’s system. But Garland is ready for a comeback season this year. He needs to let NBA 2K25 know they were wrong in their decision.
