Defeat the Tyranid Majors

The Tyranids have different ranks and types of their own kind. However, if a group comes at you, you should primarily focus on the Majors. These are the fighters with the two swords or the poison cannons.

If you defeat them first, the surrounding party and foot soldiers will either be decimated simultaneously or will wander around aimlessly. This way you can quickly break a large attack in seconds without using up stims or shields.

The flying Neurotrophs are particularly nasty. The buffs of other Tyranids in their vicinity should be eliminated as quickly as possible.

Search for gene seed and rescue relic

At some point on your missions, you will randomly come across two rare items that you can collect:

  • The genetic seed
  • The rescue relic

While the Geneseed grants your squad a large XP boost when successfully extracting it with the seed, the Rescue Relic serves to revive you or your allies if they are down.

Depending on the current state of your mission, you should take one of the two items with you. You cannot take both items, you have to decide. As for the gene seed, you should also know that if you die, it will be automatically destroyed.

It is also important that someone on your team who can take the most hits and has the highest survivability picks up the seed.

Use loadout station and destroy green boxes

In the heat of battle, your ammo can quickly run out, so it’s important to pay attention to two sources that can replenish your supply. These include:

  • The loadout stations
  • The green boxes at different corners of the map.

The loadout stations let you change your loadout if you want, but you can also select the same loadout to replenish your ammo.

You can also find the green boxes in various corners and edges in the respective missions and operations. Simply destroy them with a dodge roll to receive ammo, grenade or stim packs.

searched for armory data hold

Armory data is an important item that you can find randomly in different locations on your operations. You need this data to unlock new weapon options and upgrades. It is also important for getting more powerful weapons.

You can recognize the armory data by its appearance. They are strange skulls with cables or cameras floating in the air.

Final examination of the individual classes for resources

You want to get your hands on armory data and requirement points quickly, but don’t know how? Then play the trials for all available classes. In the armory you can interact with all classes and activate the “Trials” skull symbol next to their weapons.

You will then be sent on a short mission where you will have to test your skills with the selected class. If you complete these short missions, you will receive their armory data and requisition points, which you can use as nice starting capital.

Destroy the green piles of the Tyranids

During combat, you will probably have come across small green piles that Majors can drop with their poison cannons. If you trigger these piles by stepping on them, they explode and create a network of roots that you can poison.

Once you’re poisoned, your vision is limited and that can cost you your life in battle. If you see one of these piles, shoot it. Once you’ve triggered it, you can also shoot the root network to destroy it.

Choose your weapons carefully

Your choice of weapon is important for the outcome of the mission. Each gun or melee weapon has its strengths and weaknesses, is suitable for close or long-range combat, can take on several enemies at once or can focus on just one enemy.

For melee weapons, a special bar in the armory shows you whether they are suitable for fighting large groups or for individual combat. As for guns, you can look for the best weapons in our tier list, where you will get good advice:

Execution is important

Executing enemies is an important function in combat that you should definitely take advantage of. While executing, you are immune to attacks and damage from the environment for the entire animation.

If you see a major or enemy that you can finish off, you should rush in and execute them – this way you can take a short breather and get an overview of the battlefield. You also get their armor back.

Want to know where to use which grenades

Grenades are real game changers. There are four types of grenades in total, which you should use as follows:

  • Fragment grenade
    • Throw them into a group of smaller Tyranids so they are all destroyed
  • Shock grenade
    • Worth it when there are a lot of enemies standing together, especially when they climb walls and gather in heaps
  • Explosive grenade
    • Usually worth it on single, tougher enemies like bosses or majors. On contact, it attaches itself to your enemies and then explodes after a delay
  • smelter
    • Worthwhile for tactical action. Can be placed to lure a group into an ambush and then detonate the bomb. You can also attach the bomb directly to enemies

Level up two classes

It is not necessary, but helpful, to have two classes leveled up. The reason for this is that you might end up in one or two lobbies where your favorite class has already been selected. Having a second class as a backup doesn’t hurt and still gives you an option to stay in the lobby rather than running away in a rage.
