Since the evening, the first parts of the collapsed Carola Bridge have been demolished in Dresden. Shortly before 10 p.m., the warning signals sounded, then the district heating supply lines were blown up from the Dresden Neustadt side. Before that, the tram tracks had been severed using a special process.

Flooding threatens in the next few days

Now the task is to remove the sagging middle section of the bridge. The experts want to complete the demolition as quickly as possible because flooding is expected in the Elbe in the next few days. Hundreds of onlookers watched the start of the work on the Terrassenufer and on the Augustus Bridge.

CDU in BW for tougher course in asylum policy

The CDU in Baden-Württemberg will deport foreign criminals and rejected asylum seekers much more quickly than before. The parliamentary group is calling on the Green-Black state government to introduce an initiative in the Bundesrat to encourage the traffic light coalition in Berlin. But the governing CDU party is also pushing for changes in asylum policy in Baden-Württemberg itself.
