Trump will not have another TV debate against Harris

Trump will not have another TV debate against Harris

The Republican US presidential candidate Donald Trump will not even compete in a TV debate against his Democratic opponent Kamala Harris. Trump wrote on the Truth Social platform, which he co-founded, that there would be no further debate. Harris had previously turned down two debate dates. Trump emphasized that he had contested a first debate against the official Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden – and then a second against Harris. “There will not be a third debate.”

Trump and Harris appeared together on stage for the first time this week in a TV debate. Harris repeatedly put her Republican opponents on the defensive. In a snap poll conducted by CNN, 63 percent of respondents saw her as the winner – compared to 37 percent for Trump. The Republican, however, argued that he had won the TV debate. That is why Harris immediately demanded a second round – like a “prize fighter” who demands revenge after a defeat.

There had been a long wrangling beforehand about the date for the television debate. Trump had proposed two further dates in September, but Harris was able to do so. Immediately after the duel, Harris’ team immediately declared their willingness to hold a second debate in October. Trump has now said no to that.

However, Harris followed up his cancellation and wrote on X: “We owe it to the voters to have another debate.”
