In recent weeks, Germany, Europe and the world have been looking at the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen again and again. But now another mega event is about to take place in the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen. And Europe is once again turning its attention to Schalke.

Because on Sunday, September 22nd, the European League of Football (ELF) will stop in the middle of the Ruhr area. In the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen, the teams of the “Vienna Vikings” and “Rhein Fire” will face each other in the 2024 Championship Game. What a cracker!

On Saturday (September 7th), quarterback Ben Holmes led the Vikings to victory over the Paris Musketeers in Vienna’s Generali Arena with six touchdowns (five passes, one run). One day later, Rhein Fire took second place in the final. However, quarterback Jadrian Clark and Co. had to wait a long time, as Stuttgart Surge was initially the better team and led until the last quarter. Shortly before the end, Rhein Fire took the win with 29:23.

The Vienna Vikings and defending champions Rhein Fire will face each other on September 22nd in the 2024 Championship Game in the Veltins Arena Gelsenkirchen of the traditional football club FC Schalke 04. Kick-off is at 3:30 p.m. More than 35,000 tickets have already been sold, the arena can accommodate a good 62,000 people – and there are still tickets available.

Zeljko Karajica, Managing Director of the European League of Football, promises: “The semifinals were already sensational, two exciting games with a great atmosphere – and we will top that again in the Veltins Arena Gelsenkirchen.” It will be the record game in the history of the ELF and a football party that no one who loves this sport should miss.”
