MakeoverHuge change: Kendall Jenner is now light blonde

She was just in front of the camera with short hair like her mother Kris, now she is radiant with a golden mane. Kendall Jenner changed from dark brown to light blonde.

It was only a few days ago that Kendall Jenner presented herself in a new look on Instagram and, with short, dark hair, looks very similar to her mother Kris. But the look was obviously just a wig: Now Jenner is back in a photoshoot with her usual hair length – but suddenly in light blonde.

Hairstylist Jenna Perry is responsible for the extreme responsibility. On her Instagram channel, she wrote alongside a photo of the now blonde model: “What I spent the last two days doing.” Jenner’s deep brown hair could not be transformed into the tone that the hairstylist says was inspired by Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy (the wife of John F. Kennedy Jr.) in just a few hours, as is usual.

The process of bleaching Jenner's dark brown hair took two days.

You also want to become blonde? This is how it works

Dying hair blonde from a shade as dark as Jenner’s naturally is no easy feat and should only be done by a professional. Ivana Mihaljevic is a hairdresser at the Zurich salon Lapis Beauty and tells you what you need to bear in mind.

1. Think about the starting point

Before you begin your journey to a blonde life, you need to determine your starting point. “Is your hair dyed, damaged or not, what base color are you working with – these are all questions that need to be answered in advance.” Customers also need to be informed. “It’s important to be aware that being blonde means a lot of effort, and it’s not just a matter of visiting the hairdresser.” The hairdresser says: “Every four to eight weeks, you need to bleach your roots, which takes extra time.” You have to be ready for that.”

Even under the best conditions – with uncolored, healthy hair – bleaching is not a quick process. “You have to plan for five to eight hours, because the hairdresser has to work very precisely and carefully.” If you add stubborn, previous coloring, it often takes more than one appointment. “It’s better for someone to come in more than once than to go home with damaged hair afterwards,” says Mihaljevic. If the hair is already extremely damaged beforehand, a good hairdresser will also recommend bleaching.

“When we bleach hair, we always roughen it up – the longer, the more stress and damage it causes to the hair,” warns the expert. “That’s why I recommend our customers a good, moisturizing shampoo, regular hair masks and leave-in products that continue to nourish the hair even after washing.” The hairdresser advises caution when using silver shampoos. “If you don’t pay attention to the quality, you can quickly do more harm than good to your hair.” Very light tones in particular tend to take on colors like purple and blue instead of shining again after washing.”
