Concern spreads after rollercoaster breakdown at Europa-Park:

Just recently, Europa-Park Rust was named the “best theme park in the world.” Millions of visitors flock to the popular park every year. Many of them are looking for an adrenaline rush. But they would probably have preferred to do without the thrill that some passengers experienced on Wednesday. 20 visitors were on board the “Blue Fire Megacoaster” when it suddenly came to a stop just before a loop.

The train could not overcome the incline and had to be driven back. This meant that the passengers were able to get off safely. A spokesperson for Europa-Park told Schwäbische.de that there was never a dangerous situation. However, this is the second time this year that the attraction has caused problems.

In April, the roller coaster also stopped several times due to a technical defect. On social media, it quickly becomes clear that many Europa-Park fans can hardly imagine anything worse than hanging dozens of meters in the air. “Nightmare,” commented one woman on Facebook about the recent incident. “That would have been horrific,” another woman added. “We’d rather not ride any more roller coasters,” said another fan of the theme park.

“It definitely happens too often”

Concern seems to be spreading among some park visitors. “Again?” wonders one woman. “This is definitely happening too often at the moment,” writes another woman. “It’s slowly becoming the norm in Germany,” predicts a man. Many are surprised by the recurring problems in Europa-Park.

Last year, for example, a pool of water burst during an acrobatic show, causing the stage to collapse. Seven people were injured. A few weeks earlier, the “Yomi Magic World of Diamonds” caught fire at Europa-Park. All 25,000 visitors to the park had to be evacuated. No one was hurt. In October 2022, a train on the “Silver Star” roller coaster stopped on its way up. The facility was closed for three hours and 36 people had to be evacuated from the car.

However, the vast majority of incidents occurred without any serious damage. This is probably why some park visitors are more relaxed about the breakdown. For example, one man on Facebook quoted the TÜV: “Everything was safe. I would ride any rollercoaster in Europa-Park at any time.”

“It can happen,” says one woman. “Anywhere where technology plays a big role in the background, something like this can never be ruled out,” writes another park visitor. Some even speak from experience. “It’s happened to me too,” says a man – and immediately offers some advice: “Don’t stress, just relax.”
