Nevada Wolf Pack men’s basketball team schedule for 2024-2025 released

Nevada Wolf Pack men’s basketball team schedule for 2024-2025 released

RENO, Nev. (Nevada Athletics) – The Nevada men’s basketball program and head coach Steve Alford have announced the Wolf Pack’s 2024-25 schedule.

While non-conference dates are set, dates for the Wolf Pack’s Mountain West schedule are subject to change once the conference’s broadcast schedule is announced. Kickoff times for all conference home and away games in Nevada will be determined once the broadcast schedule is released.

Outside of the league, the Pack will play 11 games, including seven home games and a trip to South Carolina to compete in the 2024 Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic. Top opponents coming to the Lawlor Events Center before the new year include Washington (Nov. 9), Santa Clara (Nov. 16) and Washington State (Dec. 2).

The Pack opens the 2024 Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic on November 21 against Vanderbilt, with the eight teams also including top teams such as Drake, Florida Atlantic, Miami, Oklahoma State, Seton Hall and VCU.

Nevada has excelled in multi-team events under Alford, most recently winning the 2023 Diamond Head Classic after defeating Temple, TCU and Georgia Tech to secure the tournament title en route. Overall, the team has compiled a record of 14-2 and won four championships in MTEs under Alford’s leadership (2023 Diamond Head Classic, 2021 Crossover Classic, 2020 Golden Window Classic, 2019 Paradise Jam).

“This is a challenging non-conference schedule that will hopefully prepare us once again for Mountain West play. Having Washington and Washington State visit Lawlor is a plus, and our MTE event in Charleston is loaded with good teams and all games are nationally televised, giving us good exposure,” Alford said. “Since we are playing 20 league games for the first time, our non-conference schedule is reduced to just 11 games. Those 11 games have to get us in position and ready to start Mountain West play on December 21st.”

For the first time, the Mountain West will play a true 20-game double-round-robin schedule in 2024-25. The Wolf Pack is scheduled to begin its conference trip on Dec. 21 at Lawlor, hosting Colorado State. Nevada plays twice more before New Year’s Day, visits Wyoming after Christmas and tentatively hosts Utah State on New Year’s Eve.

The Pack begins 2025 with two straight road games, visiting New Mexico and Fresno State before returning home to face Air Force and San Jose State. January ends with the Pack traveling to Utah State to host San Diego State (tentatively scheduled for Jan. 25) and then moving on to Boise State.

February is set to begin with the first of two Silver State Series, presented by America First Credit Union, matchups against UNLV, tentatively scheduled for Feb. 1 at Lawlor. From there, Nevada travels to Air Force and then returns home to host Fresno State before two straight road games against San Jose State and Colorado State.

In the home stretch, the Wolf Pack hosts Boise State and Wyoming at Lawlor to end February, then turns its attention to three games in March. The March stretch begins with a return trip to UNLV tentatively scheduled for March 1, followed by Senior Day at Lawlor against New Mexico (tentatively scheduled for March 4) and the final game of the regular season at San Diego State (tentatively scheduled for March 8).

The Wolfpack is coming off an outstanding season, making its second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and finishing the year with an overall record of 26-8.

Alford and his staff have added a ton of new talent to the team this offseason as Nevada looks to win the Mountain West championship and secure the program’s third consecutive NCAA tournament appearance.
