American Football – NFL star after police action: I could have been smarter – Sport

Miami (dpa) – After the fuss surrounding his brief arrest during a traffic stop in Miami, NFL star Tyreek Hill has now made it clear that he should have behaved more skillfully towards the police officers in the situation. “At the end of the day, I’m a human being. I have to follow the rules. “I have to do what anyone else would do,” said the Miami Dolphins wide receiver.

The 30-year-old was stopped by police officers near the stadium on Sunday before the season opener. Hill explained that he wished he had done some things “a little differently,” such as leaving the window of his sports car open when the officers asked him to do so. Instead, he rolled the window back up. Then the incident escalated.

Hill on police officer involved: “He has to go”

In a video from a bodycam of a police officer who was present at the operation, you can see how another police officer then opened the driver’s door and pulled Hill out of the car. Hill was pressed to the ground. An officer pressed his knee into Hill’s back and the NFL professional was handcuffed.

“Does that give them the right to beat the crap out of me?” “Absolutely not,” Hill said. “But at the end of the day, I wish I could go back and do things a little differently.” The Dolphins player is also calling for one of the officers involved in the incident to be fired from the police force. “Gone. Go. Go. Go. Go. “He’s got to go, man,” Hill said. “In that moment, not only did he treat me poorly, he treated my teammates with disrespect.” Hill’s teammates Calais Campbell and Jonnu Smith were also involved in the incident.

Miami-Dade Police Director Stephanie Daniels launched an internal investigation and subsequently placed one of the two officers on administrative duty.
