Megyn Kelly leads MAGA meltdown over Taylor Swift’s support for Kamala Harris

The last time Taylor Swift called on her fans to vote on Instagram, the result was 35,000 new voter registrations. This year, with the singer supporting Kamala Harris, her influence is likely to be felt again – something that right-wing commentators like Megyn Kelly are not happy about.

“You can kiss your sales to the Republican audience goodbye, Taylor,” Kelly shouted on her podcast on Wednesday. Notably, Swift also supported Joe Biden over Donald Trump in the 2020 election, and her sales have not suffered. However, Kelly confidently continued, “I hope you enjoyed it [the sales] as long as you had them. This couple – Taylor and her boyfriend Travis Kelce – are the epitome of elite snobs.”

Swift posted on Instagram immediately after Tuesday night’s presidential debate that she would vote for Harris because “she fights for the rights and causes that I believe need a fighter to represent them.” The pop star also criticized Trump for using AI-generated photos of the star that appeared to show her supporting him. That “made me realize that as a voter, I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election,” she wrote.

Pop superstar Taylor Swift endorsed Democrat Kamala Harris in the US presidential election against Donald Trump on September 10, 2024, saying she is a “warrior”. “I will cast my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 presidential election,” she posted on her Instagram account. Trump responded by telling Fox News that he preferred Swift’s friend and “huge Trump fan” Brittany Mahomes over the singer, adding that he had “never been a fan of Taylor Swift.” He then said Swift would “pay a price in the marketplace” if she supported Harris over him.

Swift’s post included a photo of her with her cat and captioned it, “Childless cat lady,” a direct rebuttal to Trump’s Vice President JD Vance, who made the unfortunate remark in 2021.

Conservative commentator Charlie Kirk called Swift’s statement “unsurprising” and joined the chorus of disappointed conservatives, tweeting, “If Taylor really wants to protect her cats from Haitian migrants, she should reconsider!” and using the hashtag “#ProtectTaylorsCats.” Fox host Mark Levin went even further, calling Swift a “moron” in his tweet.

Despite his enthusiasm for Kid Rock’s performance for Trump at the Republican National Convention, Ben Shapiro tweeted: “If you are voting for a particular candidate because your favorite singer does, please don’t vote. You are too stupid to vote.”

Tim Walz, who learned of Swift’s support during an interview with Rachel Maddow, said in response, “I’m incredibly grateful, especially to Taylor Swift. Look, Swifties, you heard it. That was eloquent and clear. And that’s the kind of courage we need in America to stand up.”

And Harris also expressed her gratitude as she left the stage after her post-debate rally on Tuesday night to Swift’s song “The Man.” In this 2019 song loverSwift sings: “I’m so sick of running as fast as I can. I wonder if I’d get there faster if I were a man.”
