Launch of the new Core Ultra CPUs reserved

The new Core Ultra 200 processors are on the way. However, the launch is likely to be pushed back a little. A market launch in early October is therefore off the table. In addition, further prices for the CPUs have appeared at online retailers.

Intel

Presentation of Arrow Lake probably postponed

Most recently, it was said that Intel would present its new Arrow Lake processors on October 10th. Sales of the CPUs should then begin the following week. However, as HKEPC now reports in a post on X (via Toms Hardware), this will probably not happen. The chips will not be released until October 24th.

Apart from the announcement of the new date, the post does not provide any further information. It is also unclear why there is a delay. However, some retailers have already listed the upcoming processors on their websites. Even the prices for some of the CPUs were recently listed. According to LambdaTek, the top model, the Core Ultra 9 285K, will cost 665 euros including taxes in Germany.

Further price leaks confirm amounts

As Videocardz now reports, the prices have now been confirmed by a Canadian online retailer. The Core Ultra 9 285K is listed there at 847.99 Canadian dollars. Converted into euros and minus VAT, the price is almost identical to that for which the processor is listed at LambdaTek. The signs that these are accurate prices that customers can expect are also increasing.

In competition with AMD’s Zen 5

The small delay in the market launch of the Arrow Lake CPUs will not have any major negative consequences for Intel. However, the processors will have to compete against AMD’s Ryzen 9000 series. However, the latter had a disappointing start. However, with a TDP patch and a Windows update, some performance could still be extracted from the new chips. In an initial benchmark before the Windows patch, the Core Ultra 9 285K had beaten the Ryzen 9 9950X.

Initially, Intel will only release the more expensive K models. The first to be released are the aforementioned Core Ultra 9 285K, the Core Ultra 7 265K and the Core Ultra 5 245K. Customers looking for cheaper variants will have to wait a little longer than October 24th. The various models, including TDPs and clock frequencies, were leaked a good three weeks ago.
