“Armed and dangerous” suspect arrested on Big Island

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – After a week-long manhunt, police arrested burglary suspect Jordan Botelho on Monday evening.

In addition to the burglary, an arrest warrant was issued against the 31-year-old for violating a restraining order.

Hawaii County Police alerted the public on September 3 that they were looking for Botelho, who was considered armed and dangerous.

On September 9, police received a tip that Botelho was leaving Honomu Town in a black Toyota 4Runner. Officers stopped the 4Runner near the intersection of Highway 19 and Mill Road.

Botelho was a passenger and was arrested without incident.

Botelho is now charged with four counts of violating a restraining order, two counts of first-degree burglary, one count of first-degree terroristic threatening and one count of second-degree criminal tampering.

Botelho made his first court appearance on September 10. He remains in custody pending further criminal investigations related to possession of a firearm.

According to police, Botelho is also suspected in other cases. Charges in those cases are pending review by the District Attorney’s Office.

Bail was set at $9,500.
