Was Kamala Harris’ jewelry a secret earpiece? After the Trump debate, wild conspiracy theories are circulating on the Internet

Social media was awash with absurd claims about the earrings Kamala Harris wore during her debate against Donald Trump, giving rise to conspiracy theories.

Shortly after the debate between the two White House contenders ended on Tuesday, wild claims began circulating on X that Harris’ earrings may have been a secret device, and comparisons were drawn to a similar-looking earpiece featured in a tech article.

“I think Kamala did great in the debate tonight against Trump, who I think is a great speaker and debater in his own right. But I was very intrigued by her earrings. Maybe because I remembered similar looking earrings from a tech article about headphones that look like earrings,” one social media user said in a post on X. Without providing any evidence for his theory, another user wrote, “If you think Kamala sounded a lot like Obama tonight… then she probably did. CAUGHT!”

“If this is true, it is crazy”

Dozens of users supported this wild claim. “Apparently Kamala was wearing an earpiece. It’s not my picture but someone noticed that this almost matches a microphone earpiece from earlier. If this is true, this is crazy,” said one user. Some took the conspiracy even further, claiming, “The company went out of business. I suppose these could have been prototypes but it seems REALLY UNLIKELY that these earrings have anything to do with this Kickstarter. I’m sure there are other sneaky earrings out there.”

On Tuesday, Harris put her Republican rival Trump on the defensive in a heated presidential debate with a barrage of attacks on his fitness for office, his support of abortion restrictions and his myriad legal troubles. Harris, 59, a former prosecutor, controlled the debate from the start, repeatedly getting on her rival’s nerves and prompting angry retorts from the 78-year-old Trump.
