Galaxy S25 Ultra with satellite connectivity and 45W charging spotted on certification website

Galaxy S25 Ultra with satellite connectivity and 45W charging spotted on certification website

Samsung’s next flagship phone, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, has been appearing in leaks and rumors months ahead of its expected official launch in January 2025. We recently got our first look at the phone thanks to unofficial renders from leaker OnLeaks.

Now, a regulatory filing gives us more details about the flagship phone. Spotted by prolific leaker IceUniverse, the listing on Chinese certification body 3C gives several details about the upcoming Samsung monster. The listing mentions support for 45W charging (which is on par with the current flagship S24 series) and satellite connectivity.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra The fact that 45W wired charging is possible is nothing special, as we have heard about it before. What is more interesting is the mention of satellite connectivity. Several Android phones in China support satellite connectivity, but the Google Pixel 9 phones are the only Android phones that support the connectivity outside of China. It is very likely that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will follow the Pixels and introduce the feature worldwide.

IceUniverse also stated that the S25 Ultra’s video performance will be “significantly improved.” The leaker did not provide any specific details or numbers to back up the claim.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to launch alongside the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus sometime early next year, most likely in January. Previous leaks about the device suggest it will be thinner – around 8.2mm thin – and will have lost some weight, expected to be 219g. Yes, that means the S25 Ultra will be the thinnest and lightest S Ultra phone yet.

Another previous leak suggested that the S25 Ultra will get a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera and stick with the 10MP 3x camera. In short, that’s all we know about the device so far. However, Samsung is trying hard to keep the leakers away from its secrets and we may learn more about the device in the coming weeks and months.

The satellite connection was introduced by Apple in 2022 with the iPhone 14 series to get in touch with someone in areas where the normal cellular connection did not work. Since then Google Pixels 9 has this capability. Samsung’s phones are the last of the major players that currently do not have this capability.

Personally, I can’t imagine satellite connectivity will be a big hit with the masses. Most of us usually stroll around towns and areas where cell reception is plentiful. However, there will be those special cases where someone is stranded on a deserted island, and if the rumors turn out to be true, that hypothetical someone might be really lucky to own an S25 Ultra.

All joking aside, satellite connectivity is of course a great thing. You may never use it, but I think it’s better to have it anyway.
