In German, ‘Betroffenheit’ describes a state of shock and disbelief. This unusual ballet was inspired by horrific events in the life of choreographer Young, who lost his daughter, niece and nephew in a terrible fire while on a family holiday. A blend of tap dancing, salsa, spoken word, singing and puppetry, this stirring artistic performance is guaranteed to stir emotions with its poignant portrayal of personal hardship and the struggle to come to terms with tragedy. Beautifully brought to life by Kidd Pivot and the Electric Company Theatre on the stage of London’s Sadler’s Wells Theatre. London, Sadler’s Wells Theatre, 2017 Director: Jeff Tudor
