Three teenagers arrested after accident with stolen car in Albany

Three teenagers face charges following a crash involving a stolen car in Albany.

Officers saw three juveniles in a stolen 2008 Mercedes Benz near Catherine Street and Oneida Terrace. When a passenger got out of the car with a gun, investigators approached the vehicle, but he backed away and the vehicle drove off.

Two other people left the car and fled. They were caught near State and South Swan streets, police said.

The 16-year-old driver was traveling west on Washington Avenue, striking several vehicles and crashing into a utility pole in Tivoli Park, then ran into a nearby area before being arrested.

One person was slightly injured.

Nah-queviar Wright, 19, of Albany, and Malachi Annan, 18, of Troy, were charged with illegal possession of a weapon and illegal possession of stolen property. Annan was previously arrested on Sunday, Sept. 1, for robbery for allegedly displaying an air rifle and stealing $40 from a person near North Pearl and Steuben streets.

Annan and Wright were scheduled to be arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court on Tuesday morning.

The 16-year-old, whose name is being withheld due to age, was charged with reckless endangerment, unlawful fleeing from a police officer in a motor vehicle, illegal possession of stolen property, illegal possession of a weapon and traffic violations. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Albany County Family Court.
